Children growing up today have a higher potential to be less active than those in previous generations. Historically, children were a valuable resource to help their family survive. In the 19th and 20th centuries, many children worked on farms or in factories to help support the family. After World War II, there was a trend that moved away from child labor. This led to healthier, happier children but over time it also led to a higher risk of obesity.
Roller skating is a way for children to stay active and get exercise while still having fun! Children as young as three years old can enjoy the health benefits of roller skating, while improving balance, coordination, and self-esteem. At Skate & Fun Zone, in Manassas, VA, we fully endorse the idea of children starting physical activity young, and have several ways to help with that.
We are proud to be a part of the Kids Skate Free Program, a national program that endorses exercise through roller skating. Our skating rink offers public skate days, lessons, a cafe, and an overall welcoming atmosphere. For our littlest skaters, we offer skate mates, a plastic apparatus to help them learn, while keeping their balance! Your child will feel comfortable and have a fun time learning all of the nuances of roller skating; it may even remind you of when you used to skate with your buddies. So, come by today!
